Whitby Fishing School is an approved centre to deliver basic STCW95 courses. We can deliver Basic First Aid, Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.
The courses are aimed at those persons/crews who wish to work in the Offshore Wind supply industry and will form part of the requirements of various wind farm companies.
As yet, the wind farm companies have not agreed on a basic certification requirement and Whitby Fishing School is liaising with various companies on an individual basis to deliver the training they require. We will endeavour to ensure that any training you require can be supplied by us quickly and efficiently.
STCW 95 Elementary First Aid (1 day) is one of the four compulsory commercial modules required to work on commercial vessels ranging from fishing vessels to super tankers and including super yachts. It is internationally recognised and covers CPR, breaks & splints, bandaging, drowning, hypothermia, transporting a casualty and much more.
Personal Survival Techniques is the STCW name for Sea Survival (1 day). This course is a mandatory requirement for commercial fishermen and offshore commercial boatmen including merchant seamen and Super-yacht crews. Quite similar to the RYA and Seafish Sea Survival courses, we teach you the necessary skills to survive if you are ever unlucky enough to have to abandon ship with more emphasis on the evacuation systems fitted to personnel and hazardous cargo ships. You will get the opportunity to wear a survival suit and experience the equipment fitted to most merchant ships. This course forms part of the 4 required modules needed to work on commercial vessel.
Personal Safety & Social Responsibility – PSSR (1/2 day) is a course offering new and experienced crew members the basic health and safety advice required on modern and traditional vessels. It covers basic hazards, personal protective equipment, general health and safety advice and general and emergency routines which you might come across.
