2 x Training Coordinator positions in Bridlington/ Withernsea and Hartlepool/ Seahouses areas respectively.

Suitably qualified & experienced person required f/t to co-ordinate training of Level 2 Apprenticeship in Sea Fishing.

Responsible to Training Co-ordinator based at Whitby, North Yorkshire. Knowledge of VQ system preferred. Essential skills to include:- sea fishing and/or wider sea-going experience, good English & Maths, IT literate. Must be willing to be flexible and work occasional unsociable hours.

INSTRUCTOR IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (MARINE DIESEL) - Position Filled - Vacancy Closed.

Vacancy details:

The company requires a fully-qualified and enthusiastic instructor in mechanical engineering (marine) to deliver Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Seafish Industry Authority courses. The successful applicant will play a vital role in providing learners with the basic theoretical knowledge and practical hands on experience of marine diesel engines to enable them to meet course requirements. We are looking to appoint a passionate individual with seagoing / teaching experience and knowledge in the operation, maintenance and repair of marine diesel engines. The post holder will be familiar with; compression ignition engines, cycle of operation and constructional details (Four and two stroke), fuel systems, the role of air in the combustion process, cooling system, lubrication system, engine electrical systems, power transmission and hull fittings.

Skills / Experience:

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria;

  • Minimum 2+ years maritime experience
  • Familiarity with adult learning and experience in a technical training environment
  • Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to an audience
  • Proven IT skills including; Microsoft Office Suite 2013 (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), specifically building a PowerPoint slide show
  • Experience with preparing a scheme of work and lesson plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to work well within a team, yet able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Be comfortable speaking in front of large groups, have an engaging personality and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Qualifications:

Essential:

Mechanical Engineering or another automotive related qualification.

Desirable:

  • IOSH Working Safely Certificate.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training or higher award.
  • Level 2 award in COSSH risk assessment.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Health & Safety at Work.
