Richard Edward Brewer Our first qualified Skipper

Richard Edward Brewer, the eldest son of Mr. Richard Brewer, skipper of MFV Copious, gained his Class 2 skipper's ticket via the School.
The School had obtained funding for three crew to undertake the training at South Tyneside College.
It took Richard approximately a year to complete his studies.
"It was hard going" said Richard, "we planned the time off I needed from fishing to attend the course but I found that there was a lot of self study required, most of the subjects were not taught lessons.
