Pride of Whitby Award for Business
Whitby & District Fishing Industry Training School was been successful in achieving the Pride of Whitby Award For Business Instigated by the local newspaper, the Whitby Gazette, the 'Pride of Whitby Awards' were celebrated during September 2006 with the fishing school gaining the top prize in the Business Award category, sponsored by local firm Colin Brown & Kidson.
During July 2006 the school applied for, and were pleased to achieve the quality mark of "Customer First". Since that date the school has successfully maintained this quality standard. The Customer First logo can be seen on all the school's paperwork and is a sign that we have met and maintained a high level of quality service to our customers.
Seafish Industry Authority Training Audit.
Whitby Fishing School, as one of several Seafish Approved Training Providers, was recently subject to a Seafish Quality Audit which covered all aspects of course design and materials, training delivery, and all aspects of course support including administration, marketing and customer satisfaction.
We were delighted to be advised that we had gained one of the highest scores in the United Kingdom.
Ofsted Inspection.
Over the years Whitby Fishing School has been inspected by Ofsted. The most recent full inspection was during December 2008 and we now hold the rating of 'GOOD'.
Seafish Industry Seafoods Awards 2009 Training & Development Award.
During 2009 Whitby Fishing School submitted a nomination to the Seafood Awards under the category of Training and Development Award, naming Sam Cumming, an ex-apprentice as the nominee. Sam enrolled with the school and achieved his full apprenticeship in February 2007. Sam proved time and again to be reliable, mature and always producing high quality work. He showed great promise on the fishing vessels Allegiance and Emulator, putting himself forward for extra duties and proving himself to be versatile and adaptable in any situation.
Association of Learning Providers – Evolution Awards Technical Award
During 2008-09, the company planned and applied for funding to purchase and install a completely state-of-the-art and integrated IT system by evolution awardsintroducing innovative technology.
